bug 1348: use a fetcher pattern for the size of Leaderboard.getCompetitors() so it doesn't get computed unnecessarily;
...
this isn't the full solution to bug 1348 which would require smart caching with tricky cache invalidation,
particularly for meta-leaderboards. But it helps for all LowPoint scoring schemes.
